MEXICAN WAR PENSION Declaration of Survivor for Pension
Sate of Missouri County of Monroe On this 12th day of May, A.D. 1887, personally appeared before me, Elias W. Boone, a resident of Breashear, in the county of Adair, in the State of Missouri, who, being by me first duly sworn according to law, deposes and says: I am the identical Elias W. Boone, who served under the name of Elias W. Boone, as a 1st Lieutenant in the company A commanded by Captain Napoleon B. Giddings, in the 2nd regiment of Missouri Mounted Vol, commanded by Sterling Price, in the war with Mexico; that I enlisted at Fort Leavenworth on or about the 15th day of July, A.D., 1846, for the term of twelve months and was honorable discharge at Fort Leavenworth, Sept 1847. That being duly enlisted, as foresaid, I actually serviced sixty days with the Army or Navy of the United States in Mexico, or on the coast or frontier thereof, or en route thereto, in the war with that Nation, which service was as follows: That I also served in the Federal Army for three years in the 1st Reg Cal Infantry Volunteers in Co C That I am 69 years of age, having been born at Washington Co., Maryland on the 21st day of May, 1818. That I was actually engaged in battle with the enemy in the war with Mexico, to wit: In the battle of Taos on the day of February, 1847.
AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS
State of Missouri, County of Monroe
Before me, Notary Public in and for the county of Monroe, on this 12th day of May, 1887, personally appeared David H. Mop, who, being by me first duly sworn, deposes and says: I have known Elias W. Boone for the space of 43 or 44 years, and I was requested by said Elias W. Boone to sign my name as a witness to the declaration for pension under the Act of January 29, 1887, sworn to by him on the 12th day of May, 1887, and that at his request I so signed my name as witness: that the said Boone is the identical person who signed the foregoing declaration, and who is therein described, and who was enlisted in the company of Captain A.B. Giddings in the regiment commanded by Sterling Price, in the Mexican war, as in the said declaration set out. No. 1 That the said Elias W. Boone actually served sixty days with the Army or Navy of the United States in Mexico, or on the coast or frontier, or en route thereto, in the war with that Nation, that I swear to these facts from knowledge obtained as follows: Affiant resided at Paris MO during(?) prior and subsequent to the year 1846. The said Boone also resided same place? Affiant personally knew the said Boone well. The said Boone left Paris in the summer of 1846 for service in the Mexican war and he did not return to said town. .I swear to from knowledge obtain as follows: for more than one year affiant has always heard and never heard the fact questioned that the said Elias W. Boone was a Lieutenant in Copl A.B. Gidding Co. Mounted Volunteer in said service. That the said Elias W. Boone is sixty two years of age, having been born on or about the ..I swear to these facts from knowledge obtained as follows: We were when young men residents of the same town and I knew that he was a .man, when I was under 21 years of age and I believe he is 7 or 8 years older than affiant is. AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS State of Missouri, County of Monroe ..12TH DAY OF May 1887, personally appeared Wm. F. Bruckned? .I have know Elias W. Boone for the space of forty? Fifty? Two years . I enlisted in the same company at the same time and was discharged at the same place and time that he was .I have know him firty? Increase Pension Claim #5,990. Elias W. Boone, 1st, Ltd. Company A2, Regt Mo Mtd. Vols, Kirksville, MO, Brashear, MO, Aug 23, 1893. Following disability: Old age, intracapsular fracture of left femur .receives a pension of eight dollars per month. He makes the following statement upon which he bases his claim for Inc.: Left leg numb and painful, has but little power in limb. Uses crutches all the time, requires aid to dress and undress, appetite and digestion fair. Upon examination we find the following objective conditions: Pulse rate, 84; respiration, 30; temperature, 98; height, 5 feet 8 ½ inches, weight 114 pounds, age, 75 years. He has intracapsular fracture of left femur, one-half inch shortening, atrophied from one-half to one inch, muscles very flabby, and cold. He uses crutches to get about. He is a weak and infirm old man; and is totally incapacitated for manual labor, by reason of fracture and old age. Tongue coated white. He is, in our opinion, entitled to a 6/18 rating for the disability caused by old age, 30/18 for the caused by fracture ..femure. John Burton, Pres.

In the matter of Mexican War Increase Claim, certificate #5990 of Elias W. Boone late of Co. A. 2 Regt Mo Mtd Vol. On this 23 day of October 1893 .Elias W. Boone aged 75 years a resident of Brashear in the County of Adair and State of Missouri well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit and who being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, in the County of Adair and State of Missouri well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows: That his annual income from all sources at the present time is the interest on $480 @ 8 percent which amounts to $38.40 per annum and $8.00 per month pension amounting to $96 per annum. My pension and the interest on $480 amounts to in all $134.40 per annum. I am now occupying my house myself. Therefore derive no income from rent of house at present and the income which I derive from these sources is insufficient for my maintenance in connection with pension which of now receive The foregoing affidavit was written by R. Davidson, JP in my presence from my oral statement just made to him and without the aid or prompting of any other person any written or printed statement or recital. Signed: Elias W. Boone. Musick Continued: That they have known from their personal knowledge that Elias W. Boone said claimant has in his own right about ¾ of an acre of land with a small house wereon valued at about $300 and located in the town of Brashear, Adair Co., MO and from Jan 5, 1893 to about April 1, 1893 he received about $12 as rent for said premises and further we know of no other income .
