Of my eleven direct ancestors who lived in northeast Missouri , I only knew Carrie May. She was the best of grandmothers; she cooked our favorite foods, told stories and with our grandfather, she purchased a bit of magic for posterity.

This purchase was a minimal but wonderful little house (modern by turn of century standards) in Marble, Colorado, then a ghost town and place of enchantment. Highlights of Marble history (marble for Lincoln Memorial quarried there) and 50 years of experiences there are told in The Magic of Marble.
