Note from Nancy:

While I was going through some files last night, an entry caught my attention but the person is only a remote connection of mine, so you would only be interested from the standpoint of tragic Civil War history. Sarah Boone married Asbury Chaney. He had an older sister, Mary Evaline Chaney who in 1850 married Dr. Lindsey Meriwether whose family was in Scotland County for awhile. Due to some unusual circumstances I ended up with a four poster bed which he had ordered in l848 from Maryland for his first wife, whom I would assume died. So I have been interested in the Meriwethers for many years. He had a younger brother, Albert Gallatin Meriwether, b. 1842, murdered in North Missouri in 1866, due to activities in the Southern cause.

That is all that is told about Albert in a rather thick book of almost strictly genealogical information about the Merriwethers, called the Meriwethers and Their Connections. If you run onto the name Meriwether in your searches, you might take note. I know nothing about this family from the time they left Missouri, except that my (2) great aunt and Dr. Meriwether had six children in Paragould, Arkansas and I have the names of those children, all born by 1870. I haven't made much effort to trace that family, though it would be interesting to me to have some update on them.
