SLATER DOCUMENTS Obtained from Knox County, Missouri Courthouse in Edina, October 1996 Note: In 1854, my 3rd great grandparents, Joseph & Maria Boone, were guardians of the children of Ellis Slater. For three years I did not know the relationship of the Slater's to the Boone's. After Michelle discovered me and we exchanged information, (see letters from William Wallace Henton) I found that Ellis Slater's wife, Louesa, was a sister to Maria (Nichols) Boone, so the children of Ellis Slater were Maria's nieces and nephews. It also interesting to note that another of my 3rd great grandfathers, William Miller, was paid for boarding the two male children of Ellis Slater. Two of William Miller's female children were married to Boone men; America Miller married Parks Boone in 1846 and Phoebe Marilla Miller married Joseph Boone, Jr. in 1856. Both marriages took place in Knox County, MO.
